The Production Finance Market (PFM)
- When & Where: A two-day event during the BFI London Film Festival, next held 7–8 October 2025 at The Thistle, Marble Arch, London
- One-to-One 'Speed-Dating' Pitch Meetings: Producers get ~20-minute sessions with financiers, enabling high-impact networking and investment discussions
- Two Strands:
- Main Market: For feature films (including animation) from established producers with budgets over €1 million (no budget cap for documentaries).
- New Talent Strand: Designed for first or second-time filmmakers, with added pitch training and mentorship
- Scale & Reach: In 2024, ~61 projects were presented (€290 million aggregate budget), with about 190+ attendees and 862 meetings from over a dozen countries
- Keynotes & Panels: Features keynote speeches from industry leaders (e.g., Saffery LLP, Sony Classics execs), case studies, plus insights into new UK indie film tax credits and global co‑financing alliances
BFI London Film Festival
- When & Where: October annually, across multiple venues in London.
- What to Expect:
- Over 200 films, including international premieres and UK debuts — across fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental.
- Gala screenings, red carpet events, and Q&As with high-profile filmmakers.
- Public and industry-focused programming, including talks, masterclasses, and networking events.
- A strong focus on diversity, innovation, and emerging British talent.
- The Production Finance Market (PFM) runs alongside, attracting international co-production interest.
British Films Market
- This is not a standard, standalone market like EFM or Cannes Marché; the term is often used loosely to refer to the UK's presence at international markets or to describe regional initiatives like the Birmingham Film & TV Market.
- When & Where: 10th-12th October, 7 Bell Yard, London WC2A 2JR
- What to Expect (if referencing UK-focused markets generally):
- UK film agencies, producers, and sales companies showcasing British content at international markets.
- BFI, BBC Film, and regional screen agencies promoting co-productions and local funding initiatives.
- Emphasis on tax relief, talent development, and the UK as a filming destination.
- May include regional markets (e.g., Birmingham Film & TV Market or smaller BFI-supported showcases).
Birmingham Film Festival
- When and where: 14–23 November at Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham, UK.
- 200+ film screenings across features, shorts, documentaries, music videos, animations and TV pilots at Millennium Point.
- Gala Awards Ceremony celebrating excellence in multiple categories, judged by an expert Grand Jury.
- Q&A sessions and panel talks with filmmakers, actors and producers for behind-the-scenes insights.
- Workshops and seminars covering topics like screenwriting, pitching and filmmaking skills.
- Networking events such as mixers, student nights and the Producer’s Forum to connect with peers and industry professionals.
- Sales List opportunities for filmmakers to showcase work to distributors and sales agents.
- Industry exposure with producers, press and film schools in attendance.

European Film Market
- When & Where: February annually, during the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
- What to Expect:
- Over 10,000 participants from 130+ countries.
- A key early-year market for selling, buying, and financing films.
- Project showcases like Berlinale Co-Production Market, Berlinale Series Market, and DocSalon.
- Focus on international collaboration with a strong European industry presence.
